Hoorah!

I’ve just found out that the library has bought a copy of a book that I put in a request for, about Bettina Van Haaren. Bettina was involved in the Elam International Printmaking workshop in the summer and her practice was hugely inspirational for all of us who saw her work and attended her seminar. However, I can’t find any of her work in any of our library’s books or journals, only on her website and online exhibition catalogues. Can’t wait to crack into the book when it arrives.

This brings me to another point: Most of the research I’ve posted so far has been from online sources. I’m planning to conscientiously transition away from articles I’ve found on Google and start hitting the real-world academia a lot more as crunch time for our honours essay gets nearer. Soon I’ll upload some scans from the pile of books that I’ve been reading and processing and bookmarking, including Naomi Klein (This Changes Everything,) Marshall McLuhan (The Medium is the Massage / Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man), Mark Graver (Non-Toxic Printmaking) Andrew Brown (Art & Ecology Now) and a few novels that have shaped my thinking: for instance Ruth Ozeki’s ‘My Year of Meat.’
