Van Gogh gallery, Amsterdam

Seeing such an impressive collection of Van Gogh’s immense body of work, and the way the gallery was organised chronologically to show his influences + the progression of his practice over his lifetime, was hugely inspirational for me. His work ethic, in particular - such evident determination, obsessive hard work and willingness to experiment despite negative feedback. The amount of art he produced over such a short career and the advancements he made are mind blowing.
[Note: above images are from my gap year in 2013, which I spent trawling the art galleries of Europe and taking lots of photos of artworks that I liked. Over the past summer I have organised+compiled all of these. By doing so and uploading them here I’m hoping to find connections and identify common elements, creating a record of the things I felt drawn to and inspired by.]
